Our first 5k together! I’m so proud of my baby sis. Before I had knee surgery in November, I made her promise that she’d do my first post-op 5k with me. After months of grumbling, she got out to run and decided that she loves it as much as I do. Our official time was 53:09, she can do much better but she stuck by my side the entire race – and helped me knock over 3 minutes off my best post-op 3 mile run!!! We are ‘tORRnado’ or maybe ‘jORRnaydo.’ Lol! We had so much fun today. I’m thankful for the race this morning because, although it was a tribute to the memory of those who died in the tornado 5 years ago, it was a positive distraction from the sadness the anniversary brings each year.
Hebrews 12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
